Home Ice No Dice
ST. PAUL, Minn— The revolution is on in the United States Hockey League. Through games of Nov. 5 “home teams” in the USHL show a deficit. The invaders have won 11 against 10 losses and two ties. The one team that everyone figured would be almost unbeatable at home—Denver-—has run Into trouble after rolling up three straight home triumphs. They have managed only one triumph in their last four home starts for an overall mark of four victories and three losses at home. Only other team showing a home advantage is Omaha. They scored a victory in their only home appearance. Four teams—Milwaukee, St. Paul, Kansas City and Tulsa—all show deficits. Mosie Chosen For Two Second All-Star Teams
MONTREAL, Que.— In three of the four National Hockey League All-Star games that have been played to date Billy Mosienko has seen action. In his first game he broke his ankle and was sidelined from play for a major part of the season. That was in 1947. He missed the second game but was in action in the third and fourth games. In his career he has failed to make a first team in the official All-Star choices as picked by the coaches but twite he has found a place on the second teams. In 1944-45 he was chosen for the right wing spot and the following season, 1945-46, he was chosen for that position again. Passing the Puck
WE CERTAINLY enjoyed our recent weekend In Sudbury. The hospitality was superb and you’ll never find keener hockey fans anywhere than those of Northern Ontario. Those boys really know their game and we chinned on hockey almost all one night. Jim Dewey, star with Sudbury’s Allan Cup team of 1337, is coaching the Sudbury club this year. Once Sudbury gets its new million dollar rink open, senior hockey there will be on a par with pre-war days. Those were the days when the Northern district produced some of the outstanding senior and junior teams in Canada… Two former “National Hockey League stars, Ralph “Cooney” Weiland and Murray Murdoch, are currently coaching the hockey teams of two of the finest universities in the world, namely Harvard and Yale.
