MONTREAL, Que There is a possibility that the sportswriters will select the N.H.L. All-Starts this season. This was the practice tor years but in 1946-47 the six N.H.L. coaches did the selecting and have done so since that time. On the over-all picture their selections were good and they named the best men to the different positions but there was the odd case when a coach tried to do a little jockeying for one of his own players and in order to boost the chances of his own player making the AllStar team, he picked an inferior player to the position. Three New Bruins Are Set To Shoot Club Up

BOSTON, Mass.— The advance assay of talent was higher than it was a year ago as the revamped Boston Bruins prepared to open their season under a new coach. The consensus here is that the Bruins are better-manned for their debut under Lynn Patrick than they were for their start a season back under George “Buck” Boucher. Patrick had a more experienced, better balanced team for his opening home-and-home series with the Montreal Canadiens than Boucher had on a corresponding date a year ago, although this Bruins team figures to be still a good bit short of the jelling point.
