Scoring Race Larry Silvestri, who has led the Southern Division scorers since the middle of November appears to be headed for the title this year and the $100. that goes with it. He has a nine point lead over his closest rival and has two more games to play than Maurice Vaillancourt of the San Diego Skyhawks. Attendance Up to and including games played Tuesday, January 31st, 1950, 547,799 people had paid admission to Pacific Coast Hockey League games. Last season, during the same number of games 538,735 customers paid. The increase is due to the fact Victoria has drawn 51,860 more people than did Oakland during the same period last season. “Rocket” Leads In Race For Lord Calvert Trophy

MONTREAL, Que— With Montreal being one of the few cities in the hockey world where the fans choose through their own votes the most valuable players on the ice in a per-game basis, Maurice Richard stands today as the voters’ undisputed choice as the Habs’ “Player of Distinction” this season. Acting as sole judges, Montreal fans cast their ballots after ever home contest with Richard home contest with Richard evidently the “people’s choice” after dominating every vote count. At the end of the season, the winner of this “Player of Distinction” popularity poll will be awarded the Lord Calvert Trophy. Cats Still Hogging Scoring Title With Taylor In Star Role

TORONTO, Ont.— The dog-gonest thing has happened to the scoring race in the Ontario Hockey Association’s senior “A” series. Until the final week of the regular schedule, Hugh (Scotty) Mair of Marlboros was considered a shoo-in for the honors, but Hamilton Tigers have done it again. Ever since the Robert (Moose) Ecclestone Memorial Trophy was put up some five years ago by Doug Laurie, Harold Cotton and other pals of the late and beloved manager of Goodyear’s championship hockey teams, Hamilton Tigers have held the trophy, or has a piece of it, each season.
