Voss Loopsters Go Goal-Crazy
ST. PAUL, Minn.— This is the goal getters’ year in the U.S.H.L. Through games on Feb. 5 almost one of every four players in Carl Voss’ circuit has 20 or more goals to show. 22 players have hit 20 or more goals. Eleven of the group have 25 or better. Showing the way in the goal getting department is Jack Giesebrecht of Louisville with 31. Jack has a good chance of bettering the league record of 48 goals established last campaign by Ray Powell. Ray made his total for a 65-game season, although he played in only 61. Like Giesebrecht, Walt has a chance of breaking the league mark. Three other…

Reardon Is N.H.L.’s Color Guy
MONTREAL, Que.— If you are looking for the guy who has color to spare in the National Hockey League then just look for Kenneth Joseph Reardon, 190-pound bone-crushing defenseman of the Montreal Canadiens. And because Reardon oozes color, hockey fans have come to love him and hate him with equal abandon. In Madison Square Garden, the fans in the upper gallery have formed an anti-Reardon “hate” club, its main purpose being to heckle and ride him every chance they get. “They really give it to me there,’’ says Kenny. “Every time I play in the Garden they give me the berry and hand me a rough time. “Before the game, when I skate around for a practice they yell at me. I never look up, I just keep skating then I peek up just…

Penalty Marks Thumped
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.— The Springfield Flyers and Lynn Pics re-wrote the Atlantic Hockey League record book for team penalties in a wild game at Springfield February 5. A total of 23 penalties for 77 minutes were handed to the rival clubs. Both represented new records. Oddly enough these same two teams were involved in a penalty record-breaking spree in the opening game of the season on November 20, 1949, also at Springfield. Springfield drew 13 of the penalties on February 5 for a total of 43 minutes. Both figures eclipsed the old records. Lynn was tagged with 10 penalties for 34 minutes which also surpassed the old marks.
