WHERE’S LEO? Dear Sir, Could you please inform me the whereabouts of Leo Lamoureux, the ex-Montreal Canadiens defenseman? During the ’48-49 season he was player-coach of the Shawinigan Falls club. Is he still with them? Don Alden Hamilton, Ont. Leo is still coaching Shawinigan. POOR SENSE Dear Sir, That anonymous character who wrote you saying your paper was strictly pro-Montreal has a poor sense of observation. Maybe he should scan his HOCKEY NEWS more closely and notice the following: The past few weeks have brought us at least two articles on the Toronto Maple Leafs weekly whereas only one article has been written about the other five teams in the N.H.L. Smythe Sends A Telegram
BOSTON, Mass.— Conn Smythe, that old scene stealer, was unable to attend the Art Ross Night but in his own inimitable way he received more publicity than any one that attended the memorable occasion. Conn sent Ross the following telegram: “Owing to Leafs entry into Lard league and Battle of the Bulge that is now in progress, I find it impossible to be in Boston, but an sending our representative and, with the club’s good wishes, our chairman of the board, Mr. Bill MacBrien, who will represent us at the gathering. “Although I have been personally against anybody living being put in the Hall of Fame, on second thought, perhaps this does not disqualify Art. With all the talk of fat in our team at present, some people might have been unkind enough…

You’ll lock for the ten-gallon hat and the six shooters and wonder what brings him to the Windy City, but if you’re a real hockey fan, you’ll recognize the Red Wings’ great goalie, Harry Lumley. Harry wears Cowboy boots because they are comfortable and he likes them. What anyone else thinks bothers him not one bit. He’s as individual in his tastes as he is in his goaltending. He has…
