Fails To Comply WithC Form Rule

MONTREAL, Que.— Danny Lewicki, “Peck’s Bad Boy” of Hockey, has been suspended from organized hockey indefinitely, President Clarence Campbell has announced. The 18 year old left-winger has been suspended by the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association at the asking of the N.H.L. “The request was made under the agreement that the N.H.L. has with the C.A.H.A.” Campbell said. The strange case of the youngster came to a head last week after months of argument between Lewicki and Conn Smythe of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Danny, who signed a Form “C” with the Leafs of the N.H.L. failed to live up to the agreement. When he signed the form it gave the Leafs an option on his services. He agreed to sign a professional contract, when tendered, for the amount specified in the option. Campbell said…

St. Mary’s Ace Back; Dollar Men Eye Cup

HALIFAX, N. S. Manager Jim McDonald and coach Marty Barry received good word from Montreal as they made plans to take to the ice with Halifax St. Mary’s Goalie Jack Donlevy back on duty. The Santamarians had feared they would lose their ace backstop, who was regarded as the best in the Maritimes during last spring’s playoff series. Announcing everything was in readiness to start defense of the Maritime Senior (Big Four) Hockey League championship, the Saints will have Tommy Brennan, George McGregor, Ronnie Gaudet, Jackie Hollett, Billy Hannon, Rock Sullivan, and Peanuts McLaughlin back in harness. Brennan, McGregor and Gaudet were high-flying scorers last season, with McGregor tying Saint John’s Dickie Wray for the league championship. Sarnia and Chatham Set For New Starts

DETROIT, Mich.— A revised league with an ambitious program, the International Hockey League will open here Oct. 17. The six-team loop of a year ago becomes five for 1949-50. Hettche, the defending champion, Detroit Auto Club and Windsor remain. Hettche, however has jumped its home base from Windsor across the river to Detroit. And Windsor, which was Ryancrete last season, still hasn’t named a sponsor. Sarnia and Chatham, Ont., the the newcomers in this border cities competition. It’s the first, time they’ve been active here thouts since before the war. Dropped are Detroit Brights, Detroit Jerry Lynch and Toledo Mercurys. Like the NHL, the schedule has been boosted. Each club will play 40 games, compared to 31 last season. It’s the biggest card arranged in the IHLs five-year history. The season opened last Monday which…
