Habs Succeed Leafs As Loop Bad Men

MONTREAL, Que.—Although Toronto’s Wild Bill Ezinicki clung to his position as top penalty-collector in the league, Montreal Canadiens snatched the team championship from Maple Leafs, holders of the honors the past season. Canadiens had a wide margin in their favor when the curtain was rung down on the end of the regular schedule. Dick Irvin’s Canucks, who adopted a “get-tough” attitude this season, wound up with a total of 772 minutes in penalties, against 705 for the former champions. Leafs. Ezinicki retained his bad man laurels by sitting out 145 minutes with the penalty timers, well ahead of his closest rival, Chicago’s Bep Guidolin with 116 minutes.…

They Copped Honors Tom Fowler of Oakland and Bobby Love of New Westminster walked off with the scoring honors while Lucien Dechene of New Westminster and Bill Brennan of Fresno won the goalie honors in their divisions. Only Once Before This is the first season that either Fresno or New Westminster has won their division Championship.
