After looking into all the arguments, pro and con, the club chieftains decided to shelve the matter, and so there will be no 70-game schedule for the next year, at least. President Clarence Campbell of the N.H.L. presented a draft schedule he had prepared, and which represented, as he put it, “several hundred hours of work.” But the difficulties of fitting in this longer playing…

MOSCOW — The peace-loving Russians think the Americans are a bunch of nasty roughnecks — even in sports! The Soviet newspaper Soviet Sports came out over the weekend with a vicious attack on the United States hockey team touring Europe. The Red sheet called the Yanks “hooligans” and took them to task for their rough play in games they played in Sweden.…
