Coast REF Team Is Now No More
SEATTLE, Wash.—The rafereeing team of Aud Tuten and Bud Cook, which started the 1948-49 season tn the Pacific Coast Hockey League, has been broken up completely now. First, Tuten signed as a player with Los Angeles Monarchs, and when the Angelenos released him he hooked on as a defenceman with San Diego Skyhawks. Cook, a resident oof Oakland and a former stalwart with that City’s P.C.H.L. Oaks, returned to his construction work after a brief fling at officiating in his first season. Departure of Cook from the whistle staff was the third loss of a League referee this season. Mickey Ion, who had been appointed referee-in-chief, was given his release earlier in the season after it was found his health did not permit him to do much travelling while supervising the referee staff.…

Ice Comedian
Paul Courteau of the Springfield Indians in the American Hockey League, besides being one of the finest playmaking centers in the circuit, is also noted for his “funny man” acts in skating. During a recent Springfield game, the Indian goaltender Don O’Hearn was injured and had to leave the ice for repairs. Courteau kept the crowd entertained for the brief time out period by performing his comical antics.…
