Bun Cook Praises Swift Walt Melnyk As A Real Comer
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.— Bun Cook, coach of the Cleveland Barons of the American Hockey League and brother of Bill Cook, coach of the Minneapolis Millers of the United States Hockey League, made the statement at the training camp of the Minneapolis-Cleveland Clubs at Brandon, Manitoba last fall that Walter Melnyk, Miller right wing, was a dead-ringer for his brother Bill in his actions. No small tribute this when one considers that the Miller mentor is acclaimed by every poll as the “Greatest Right Wing of all time.” It is questionable if there is another player in the game today who can stop and start along with Melnyk. He is dynamic as an individualist whenever he winds up and starts to go. Although he started his professional career back in 1941 when he signed with the…
Habit Forming
Harvey Bennett stellar goaltender of the Providence Reds in the American Hockey League was without a shutout all of last season. Pieri also donates $20 for a three goal “hat trick”.…

Tired Of Feud, Owner Decides To Sell
NEW WESTMINSTER. B.C.—A long-standing West Coast feud has suddenly flared into the open, with the announcement by Ken McKenzie that he is willing to put his New Westminster Royals of the Pacific Coast loop on the sales block. The announcement, which came after a recent game between the Royals and Vancouver Canucks, shook the entire league. McKenzie and Coley Hall, Vancouver owner, have long been bitter enemies, and the recent argument apparently was the last straw. McKenzie said it would no longer be possible “to have the two of us in the same organization”. Probable buyer for the club, currently the best in the league, is reported to be Paul Thompson, former Chicago player and manager. Thompson and Hall also hate each other, a situation which should have some interesting possibilities if…
