Happy Christmas The first N.H.L. hockey fame to take place in the spacious Chicago Stadium was Christmas Day, 1929, when the Chicago Black Hawks defeated Pittsburgh Pirates 3-1 to make the opening a happy one. From that vagueness it’s obvious Chuck intends to reach his goal. He now is playing in his first season of junior hockey with Monarchs in…

Bun Cook Praises Swift Walt Melnyk As A Real Comer

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.— Bun Cook, coach of the Cleveland Barons of the American Hockey League and brother of Bill Cook, coach of the Minneapolis Millers of the United States Hockey League, made the statement at the training camp of the Minneapolis-Cleveland Clubs at Brandon, Manitoba last fall that Walter Melnyk, Miller right wing, was a dead-ringer for his brother Bill in his actions. No small tribute this when one considers that the Miller mentor is acclaimed by every poll as the “Greatest Right Wing of all time.” It is questionable if there is another player in the game today who can stop and start along with Melnyk. He is dynamic as an individualist whenever he winds up and starts to go. Although he started his professional career back in 1941 when he signed with the…
