Peters Wins Award Prior to the opening game in Boston when the Bruins beat Chicago 8-3, Weston W. Adams, president of the Boston club, presented the Charles F. Adams Memorial Trophy to Jim Peters. The award was voted Peters by Boston hockey fans. An Even Split In 31 complete seasons, Toronto and Montreal have won the Stanley Cup 14 times. Oddly enough the honors I’ve been equally divided ut : seven victories each. Toronto clubs have worn three names: Arenas, St.Pats and Maple Leafs. Montreal teams were Canadiens and Maroons. Michigan University Has Ambitious Puck Schedule.

BROOK HILL SNOW ANN ARBOR, Mich — University of Michigan’s national collegiate champions this week announced an ambitious coast-to-coast schedule that will be a true test of abilities to retrain the coveted title next March in Colorado Springs. Coliseum practice sessions will begin November 1st anti the opening game opponents will be the Windsor Spitfires of the International Amateur Hcckey League in Ann Arbor December 11th. In addition to a game with the University of Toronto in the Chicago Stadium (December 16) the Maize and Blue sextet will play in Colorado Springs, Berkeley, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Princeton, New Haven Houghton and Minneapolis. League Squad Took Opening Game In 1947

TORONTO, Ont. — First blood in the National Hockey League’s Annual All-Star Game went to the collection of the league brilliants in the opener last October 13 In Toronto’s Maple Leaf Gardens. The crew led by Coach Dick Irvin of Montreal Canadiens humbled the Stanley Cup winning Toronto Maple Leafs by a score of 4-3 in a fast and thrilling contest, which was marred by an accident that broke Billy Mosienko’s leg and put the Chicago wingman on the shelf for the early part of the season. Max and Doug Bentley, Maurice Richard and Grant Warwick scored for the league representative, while Toronto’s big line of Harry Watson, Syl Apps and Bill Ezinicki accounted for all Leafian goals, with one apiece.
