NEW YORK, N.Y.— You know about the parents who had so many children they couldn’t remember all the names. The mushrooming of the New York Rangers hockey family of farm teams and sponsored clubs since the end of the war occasionally has Manager Frank Boucher puzzling in a “Who’s on first?” fashion when he tries to recall the personnel of one of his sextets, and sometimes has Business Manager Tom Lockhart going through a similar routine where club officials are concerned. VOLUME 2 MONTREAL, OCTOBER 27,1948 NUMBER 4 NEW YORK, N.Y.— With Buddy O’Connor’s picture adorning the color cover, the second annual edition of “Inside the Blue Shirt” came off the presses in New York on Monday. A 96-page publication edited and compiled by Stan Saplin, the volume is the official guide and record book of the New York Rangers. The book is unique in that it is the only history of a club published by any individual team organization. This second edition contains a new feature which is a distinct contribution to hockey history. League Squad Took Opening Game In 1947

TORONTO, Ont. — First blood in the National Hockey League’s Annual All-Star Game went to the collection of the league brilliants in the opener last October 13 In Toronto’s Maple Leaf Gardens. The crew led by Coach Dick Irvin of Montreal Canadiens humbled the Stanley Cup winning Toronto Maple Leafs by a score of 4-3 in a fast and thrilling contest, which was marred by an accident that broke Billy Mosienko’s leg and put the Chicago wingman on the shelf for the early part of the season. Max and Doug Bentley, Maurice Richard and Grant Warwick scored for the league representative, while Toronto’s big line of Harry Watson, Syl Apps and Bill Ezinicki accounted for all Leafian goals, with one apiece.
