There was no denying those Hamilton Tigers once they started rolling. Now the OHA Senior “A” Series champions are in their right spot—first place … And they did it the hard way … Bouncing back after a 4-0 defeat in a Saturday night Owen Sound engagement, Hamilton Tigers roared into Toronto’s Maple Leaf Gardens and outplayed and outscored the Senior Dukes by a 4-3 margin to tie their Queen City rivals for the leadership. Coming out of nowhere and with a 10 point gap between them and the first place, the Tigers were not finished. VOLUME 1 MONTREAL, JANUARY 21,1948 NUMBER 17 NEW YORK— The New York hockey writers played up the recent battle between the fiery Ranger veteran, Phil Watson and Canadians’ lanky rearguard Hal Laycoe in a humorous manner last week. In the Journal-American in bold-face type it read: “Watson’s Canuck Feud Sparks Ranger N.H.L.
