Johnny Holota’s Playmaking Said Ranks With Best
Whenever anyone in any line of endeavor, be it sports or business, sets any kind of record that makes him a standout, he has to have that certain extra something to place him above his contemporaries. This is true in the case of Johnny Holota, diminutive centre of the Cleveland Barons of the American Hockey League. Last season, Holota with his fast skating; shifty ability, set a new all-time goal-scoring record for the American League by lighting the lamp 52 times. Johnny, who is only 5’ 6“ tall and weighs but 160 pounds, has to make up for his size with ability in competing against his more robust opponents. MONTREAL— With the halfway mark of the National Hockey League season rapidly approching, hockey writers and broadcasters around the six-club circuit are buckling down to a close scrutiny of the activities of the candidates for the various individual trophies awarded annually. With cheques for $1,000 each going to winners of the four trophies — three of which are selected by hockey writers and broadcasters from the different N.H.L. cities — conrpetition is keen among the eligibles and their respective supporters will be staging many hot arguments between now and the end of the season.
