High - Scoring Group Result Of Experiment

PHILADELPHIA— When Philadelphia Rockets played St. Louis Flyers at the irena here last Saturday night it was more than just a hockey game for three members of Wally Kilrea’s jet-propelled sextet. It was a pre-birthday celebration for Rockets’ number one line of Phil Hergesheimer, Wally Stefaliw and Mike Narduzzi—with one candle on the cake. The line was “born” just over one year ago, on December 7, 1946, when Herb Gardiner Philadelphia coach at the time, slapped the trio together as an experiment, and then stood back in amazement as it paid off gold plated dividends. We are playing before packed houses and if we continue to play the brand of hockey we have displayed already, the S.R.O. sign will become a regular,” mused Downie. “Last season we were new to the P.C.H.L. and had to build from nothing. We didn’t win many games but were in there fighting every game. This season we arranged a working agreement with Buffalo and Providence, both of the A.H.L., and coupled with some left-overs from last year’s sextet, we have, I…
