THEY’RE AN EXPANSION franchise in a non-traditional market that boasts a top scorer, some breakout talent and a near-unbeatable netminder. They’re also playoff bound with surprisingly good odds to win it all. No, they’re not the Vegas Golden Knights. They’re the CWHL’s Kunlun Red Star, though Brenda Andress can understand the confusion. “That’s a pretty good comparable, isn’t it?” said the league commissioner. No doubt, a second-place finish has made Red Star, with its league-leading performances from Kelli Stack and netminder Noora Raty, impossible to ignore in the seven-team circuit.
