HEAD ON STRAIGHT

CHANGE DOESN’T SCARE ARTTURI Lehkonen. After he played his first pro games with TPS Turku in the Finnish League last year, he moved far from his hometown to join KalPa in Kuopio. “Turku was starting to be a bit too familiar for me,” he said. “I needed some change and some new direction. I felt like KalPa was a good decision.” The decision paid off. Lehkonen has become as an integral part of KalPa’s lineup, amassing 13 goals and 29 points in 43 games on a playoff contender despite losing a handful of games to concussions. TRI-CITY IRONMAN

TRI-CITY AMERICANS CAPTAIN JUSTIN FESER etched his name in the Western League record book, playing his 312th straight game in early March. CAPITAL COLLAPSE

2010 PLAYOFF LETDOWN The Capitals win the Presidents’ Trophy as the NHL’s top regular season team, but can’t solve the Montreal Canadiens and lose in the first round of the playoffs. 2011 NOT ENOUGH GREEN Star D-man Mike Green suffers serious head and groin injuries and plays just 81 games between 2010 and 2012, tallying only 11 goals and 31 points over that span. ROSTER RESHAPING In the 2011 off-season, the Caps remake their roster by signing four veterans to UFA contracts. Only one of them – Joel Ward – remains a Capital. GOALIE CAROUSEL Braden Holtby seizes Washington’s starting goalie job in the 2012 playoffs. He is their third No. 1 netminder in two seasons and struggles early in the 2012-13 campaign. 2012 SEE YA, SEMIN Sniper Alexander Semin, once thought to be a Caps cornerstone, leaves to sign with the…
