Frattin For The Future
The great thing about a new coach coming in is that everyone gets a chance to make a first impression. In the case of rookie Matt Frattin, his debut under Randy Carlyle was a shining example of what the former University of North Dakota star can do when given the chance. “Any young player with the skill set of a Matt Frattin should get those opportunities,” Carlyle said. “He’s a smart player, he gets up and down the ice effectively and he was fairly safe defensively.” The 24-year-old right winger also had two points in a 3-1 win over the rival Canadiens, which never hurts. Hard to believe the kid who wears the ‘C’ for the Rockets and also got the honor at the Canadian League’s Top Prospects Game was undrafted in the Western League, but that’s Colton Sissons. “It was tough getting missed on,” he said. “It was a pretty big deal for me at the time, but now I look back and it wasn’t so traumatic.” A late bloomer, the 6-foot-1, 189-pound right winger is now ranked 27th overall by International Scouting Services for this year’s NHL draft and brings a lot of nice intangibles in his arsenal. “He’s a solid two-way player,” said coach Ryan Huska. “Lots of character, gives an honest effort each game and doesn’t cheat.” Sissons missed some time after the Prospects Game when he sustained a concussion, but his quick…
