NHL 12 Got Game
There’s always a lot of excitement when EA Sports releases its latest hockey game, as fans know they’re going to get a quality experience. With NHL 12, the development team at EA Canada has a winner with its best hockey game to date. One of the main additions to NHL 12 is the Full Contact physics engine, which factors in players’ size and physicality whenever they go in for a hit. So, you won’t see smaller players like Mike Cammalleri knocking down big guys such as Zdeno Chara anymore. Or the amount of it. The game’s escalating costs – even at entry levels – are prohibitive for a growing number of prospective players and their families. “Hockey is a very expensive sport,” said former NHLer Bob Sweeney, now with the Boston Bruins Foundation. “The one-piece sticks cost more than $100 apiece, let alone skates, helmet, gloves, pants and shoulder pads.” But a program developed by a Massachusetts couple is helping to address that issue. Carolyn and Michael Spengler are the driving force behind Restore Hockey, a non-profit designed to make hockey more accessible.…
